This privacy policy applies to the Caloringo mobile application (hereby referred to as "Application") developed by Mehmet Ali Demir (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"), available as a Freemium service. By downloading and using the Application, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

Information Collection and Use

The Application stores data locally on your device to provide a better user experience. This data includes:

  • Profile information (name, age, gender, height, weight)
  • Calorie and macro goals
  • Meal entries and food logs
  • Weight tracking data
  • Water intake records

The Application does not collect precise location data.

AI-Powered Food Analysis & Third-Party AI Service

The Application uses OpenAI, a third-party artificial intelligence service, to analyze food images and provide calorie and nutritional estimates. When you use the AI-powered food analysis feature:

  • What data is sent: The food photo you take or select from your gallery is sent to OpenAI's servers for processing. No other personal data (such as your name, profile information, or health data) is included with the image.
  • Who receives the data: The food image is sent to OpenAI, L.L.C. (located in San Francisco, CA, USA) via their API for analysis.
  • How the data is used: OpenAI processes the food image solely to identify food items, estimate portion sizes, and calculate nutritional information (calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fats). The image is processed temporarily and is not used by OpenAI for training their AI models.
  • Data retention: Food images are processed in real-time and are deleted immediately after analysis. Neither Caloringo nor OpenAI permanently stores your food images.
  • User consent: The Application will ask for your explicit permission before sending any food image to OpenAI for analysis. You may choose not to use the AI food analysis feature, and instead manually enter your meal data.

Third-Party Services

The Application utilizes the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI - Used to process user-captured photos for AI-powered analysis; images are not stored beyond processing. OpenAI Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat - Used for managing premium subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect anonymized purchase and subscription data. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
  • Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics - Used on the Caloringo website to collect anonymized usage data such as page visits, button clicks, and scroll behavior. IP addresses are anonymized. Google Privacy Policy

Each of these third-party services provides the same or equivalent level of protection for your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy.

Cookies and Website Analytics

The Caloringo website (caloriecounter.app) uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics purposes. These include:

  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics cookies to understand how visitors interact with the website (e.g., pages visited, time spent, click behavior).
  • Essential cookies: Cookies required for basic website functionality, such as storing your cookie consent preference.

  • AI Food Analysis: You can choose not to use the AI photo analysis feature and manually enter your meals instead.
  • Analytics Cookies: You can decline analytics cookies when prompted on the website, or clear your browser cookies at any time.
  • Application Data: You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the Application from your device.

Data Retention Policy

All user data (profile, meals, weight, water intake) is stored locally on your device. Food images sent for AI analysis are processed in real-time and immediately deleted. Security

The Service Provider values your privacy and takes necessary steps to safeguard your information. Your data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). Data transmitted to third-party services (such as OpenAI) is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS encryption.

Children's Privacy

The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal data through the Application, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates will be communicated through this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes. Continued use of the Application constitutes acceptance of any modifications.

Your Consent

By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. For AI-powered features that send data to third-party services, the Application will request your explicit consent before transmitting any data.
